Espresso Check
Is your espresso tasting too bitter, watered down or just taste bad? Here’s a few free tips to help you out. If you don’t want to get into the science behind this, give me a call and I will come do a check-up to make sure you're making the best espresso and drinks you can for your customers.
1. Check your grind weight.
You should be in the ballpark of 14-19 grams for a double espresso shot. This window is dependent upon what coffee roaster you use. If you are losing a lot of espresso from the bayonet after or during grinding, you may be either too coarse or the timing is off.
2. Check your brew time.
Brew time should be in the ballpark of 25 sec +- 3 seconds. This is also dependent upon your roaster and their designed recipe.
Brewing too fast? You're coffee is either too coarse or you don’t have 14-19 grams of ground espresso.
